bb:

Thank you. Are you doing well tonight? Did you get all your ironing done?

Hucka D.:

I wish I could say it was a chip shot but I can’t. Then afterwards I got to just putter about, though. How was Blackmount? Did you see Doug?

bb:

Blackmount was quite interesting (!) Doug… no, don’t remember a Doug.

Hucka D.:

He lives in the Doug House (sp) near the Rabbit Hole, on the south east east side. In the corner of the lot with the maple leaf rag. On the bench beside the park with the ducks and geese.

bb:

No, Hucka D. Don’t recall that. Don’t recall any of that specifically. There was a nice park setting in the southwest part of the Blackmount sim.

Hucka D. (frustrated?):

Nah, that’s not it. Let’s move on.

bb (reassuing):

I’ll keep my eye out for this Doug when I return, though. Haven’t finished exploring there yet.

Hucka D.:

OK, you do that.

Sorry, Hucka D. Had to refill my coffee mug.

Hucka D.:

Me too. Mixed in with some… well, better not say it.

bb (continuing):

Hucka D., I feel we have many, many things remaining to talk about…

Hucka D. (interrupting):

… the hysteries of the universe, starting with Big Sink of course.

bb:

Right. Do you wish to speak about St. Nick of Barkley more tonight?

Hucka D.:

Yes I do (pause).

bb (encouraging):

Well?

Hucka D.:

You ask.

bb:

OK, so I’m getting the impression that St. Nick is somewhat the same as our Santa, also called St. Nick or St. Nicholas, and that he, er, diverted a small portion of toys he streams to children all over the world to our small corner, specifically two local parks called Frank and Herman which collectively have a blog category here. And, namely, the toys called Mossman and also the little candy Mmmmmm’s you presently see in commercials.

Hucka D.:

Divert is a good way to put it. Surplus. Toys otherwise not loved as much as most others. But put to good use in these parks, yes. Toy avatars.

bb:

Why would this diversion be needed in the first place?

Hucka D.:

St. Nick of Barkley is a complex personality. Cruel, vain, hound dog, jailhouse bird, tender and loving, address unknown…

bb:

You said he didn’t approve of the formerly independent country of Sharon joining up with Azure and other countries to form Wazob.

Hucka D.:

No. He didn’t approve. He caused the diversion, then.

bb:

What was Wazob’s position on avatars (bodies used by users instead of inhabited by souls)? Or Sharon’s for that matter?

Hucka D.:

Nail on the head, my friend. Nail on the head. (pause)

bb (again encouraging):

Well??

Hucka D.:

Ask about the Glop People. The ones from Uranus and a bit Neptune and a bit less Pluto, even.

bb:

Alright, I’m asking, Hucka D.

Hucka D.:

Glad you asked. They came in cubes from (these planets). Uranus mostly. They thought they were called. By The Pope.

bb:

I take it you’re not talking about the Catholic Pope here.

Hucka. D:

No… the (extraterrestrial) plant The Pope. From Cairo… we won’t say which one.

bb:

As I understand it — what little I do — The Pope was suppose to act as a conduit between Earth and Mars.

Hucka D.:

But Mars is Second Life here. Through the Jeogeot-Wazob melding. Or Jeogeot-Mayland. M-N… Mars.

bb:

I know that chromagraphs are involved somehow. With the Glop People communication, I mean.

Hucka D.:

Yes. Anyway, the Glop People manufactured their own bodies. Like Second Life avatars, then. Except they also ensoul the bodies. Make them and then ensoul them. This idea was not lost on St. Nick of Barkley. He lived with them for a spell. In Ladyslipper. Learned about time/space loops there. Timescape… Time/space.

bb:

When I was a teenager, I believe, I seemed to fall into at least a space loop involving this very same Ladyslipper, the real location that exists just outside Morganton. Jules Verne’s Morganton.

Sorry… sidetracked again. We haven’t even talked about the Piet Mondrian influence on Piedmont or Petemond, now obvious also, in a way, Pietmond.

Hucka D.:

Sadly that’ll have to wait until another night when we have more coffee to brew. Remember to look for Doug.

New Digs, Valentine’s Day, 2010

It’s almost 1/4th the size of the Aotearoa property I just gave up, but I kind of like it. Could this be a new home sweet home? It sits right on the lip of the largest sink outside Jeogeot’s Sunklands: Chasm Deep on the Corsica continent. I’ve already discussed it a bit here and mentioned it in other places in the blog as well, usually in conjuction with another, smaller sink on the Corsica continent I personally call (paradoxically) Egg Hill or Egg Hill Sink. In fact, I had a chance to instead rent property from LaMa Estates (my current, sole landlords) right near the center of Egg Hill Sink, the second and perhaps last obvious dry sink on not only the Corsica continent, but on *any* continent outside Jeogeot. I was all ready to plop down my money on the latter when I visited again and noticed about 1/2 the properties surrounding it didn’t allow direct access. So I decided on the Chasm Falls location, since it didn’t seem to have any such restrictions in movement there.

But I thought I’d start with a snapshot from the lip of another sink, Sunklands’ Oolamoo-Drews (aka Second Sink) and the nice waterfall cascading down the ridge there. Baker rented a rock cottage (since replaced) near the top of this falls last summer.

Much more modest in size is the new waterfall on my Timescape sim property.

Here you see the standard Victorian house to the left that I invariably set up on any new property, and, to the right, the handy little 4 prim cabin that I also decided to rez to act as a secondary structure on the land. The 2048 square meters involved in this case, as you can probably glean from a close study of the above photograph, make not 2 side-by-side 1024 squares but, instead, 2 side-by-side 512s followed by a 1024 square stuck onto the lower part of the west 512. A bit of an “L” shape, then.

Below, Baker sits on a rock on the edge of the 1024 just mentioned, providing a view of the small waterfall set up on the eastern of the 2 512s. The waterfall actually fully bisects the 512 north to south, with the cabin then set up on easternmost, otherwise isolated portion of the property. Interesting setup, and one I’ve not used before in any way.

Oh, and I can’t recall renting totally granite property before either. 🙂

The only way to easily access the cabin is to walk across the rocks at the top of the small waterfall.

But certainly the vista of most note from the property is this spectacular view down into the Chasm Deep sink itself. Big do’ins down there it looks like. In fact, from the land description it appears someone is building a whole damn town inside (“Chasm City”).
