Chatters… October 11, 2009

Plant:

I think you should go ahead and tell him tonight, Hucka Bee.

Hucka D.:

I’m not… here he is…

bb:

Hi fellows. What are you two hiding from me? I can tell something.

Hucka D.:

Oh (looks at Plant) we’re just discussing the future. Past and future. And how the two mingle and interact in logical but seemingly, linearly speaking, illogical ways.

Plant:

Tell him about page 156.

bb:

What’s this?

Hucka D.:

Plant has some theories. More than theories, since thoughts become reality. Plant has a certain line of probabilities he’d like — he’s requesting to explore.

Plant:

We think we know how to get to your 4th dimension, baker Beach. (looks smugly at Hucka D.)

bb:

Like the Flatland idea? Well… lemme guess again: the tube?

Plant:

You know I had to get the tube by giving up my career with Led Zeppelin. Not giving it up (blows out)… well, anyway, I was then 18 and 59 at once. Present met up with past to make a continuous loop. Like your Klein bottle, perhaps. Bottle… tube.

bb:

I’m not under…

Hucka D. (interrupting):

We need you to do some experimenting. Obviously, you need to play around with the Peter Cross tomorrow — today. That’s the old center of Petemond. Maybe.

Plant:

Perhaps.

Hucka D.:

We need you, as you’ve kind of guessed, to start thinking about the tui bird of New Zealand. The Kiore rat is a natural enemy. How do these interact in Aotearoa or New Zealand? And is Aotearoa just the north island or is it both islands?

bb:

Peter said “teu e, teu e,” or something to that effect.

Hucka D.:

Also: BROOK. (pause) Rent that CD from the music library.

bb:

I will!

Hucka D.:

What else? (puts finger on chin in thoughtful position) Plant? (looking over to Plant)

Plant:

Let’s see… there’s 234. The reader is still creating what’s being read, in a Philip Dickian kind of way. Like Red Dwarf…. Bladerunner.

bb:

What about Big Island now? Does it have any more tales to tell?

Hucka D.:

We better end tonight. Just think of Plant’s request, and also the Peter Cross. We’ll take it from there, then.

bb:

Thank you both.

Sunklands East

Filed under: Second Sink,Sunklands — baker Blinker @ 10:28 am

Baker heads east along Route 10 for his first trip around Sunklands since renting the Aotearoa property. Route 10 also runs just south of my property, within very easy reach of the Edwardston Station Gallery.

Baker finds lots of abandoned vehicles along the way.

Perhaps interesting, derepaired gazebo in Numbat, two sims east and one sim south of Aotearoa. I may have more to say about it soon.

Then another couple of sims down the road is the second largest of the Sunkland sinks, called simply the Oolamoo-Drews sink for now (for the 2 sims it is located within). To remind, Baker Bloch has already rented in Oolamoo, as well as Lill Burn Vallery in Sunklands. So the Aotearoa rental is technically his third stop in Sunklands, although by far the largest venture.

Back to Oolamoo, which Baker is standing in below at the nice bridge over the Oolamoo-Drews Reservoir, we’ll call it. Like the sink, the reservoir extends over both of these sims, one can say, although the water level in Drews is about 10 meters lower than in Oolamoo. A phantom wall also separates the 2 parts of lake on the border between the 2 sims. Hucka D. has indicated that half of the sink, and, by assoc., half of this lake at its bottom, has been well protected or restored (Oolamoo side), while half remains still in development (Drews side). Hucka D. has also strongly hinted that The Arab ship use to be located in this pool, and, if so, in a larger, past version of the lake, most likely. I’m sure this story will also be developed more quite soon.

There are a number of lakes in Oolamoo, although all of an “artifical nature” save for the Oolamoo-Drews Reservoir. Now as far as I can tell, the whole Oolamoo sim is owned by the Roseheart Rental Community, which I rented my really nice cottage from near the eastern line of the sim, and near the top of the very waterfall Blochs is staring at below. However, this water system is unconnected to the Oolamoo-Drews reservoir, which has no feeder streams, at least presently. Instead this particular stream empties into a lake on a ridge just to its north. As Baker Bloch is checking now, the water level of the Oolamoo side of the O-D Reservoir is 45 meters (again, 10 higher than the Drews side), while the smaller, ridge lake here lies at the 70 meter level. And at the top of that waterfall pictured below is positioned another nice, smaller lake of a more circular design. This is the lake Baker’s cottage was situated upon, a place he might rent out again sometime.

We’ll save the story of Roseheart Rental Community’s extension into the almost equally scenic Nedben sim to the north of Oolamoo for another time. 🙂 I will add here that I consider the Oolamoo sim probably one of the prettiest mainland sims I’ve yet to encounter. There’s no “gristle” showing here atall, unless you count the fairly high amount of scripts running in the sim.
