First and Second Life at least.

I thought I’d introduce this particular post dominated by Beach Mtn. “Temple of the Moon” posts with photos of other Temple of the Moons I found through a google image search of the phrase. The left hand monolith is found in Capitol Reef Nation Park in Utah, specifically in a place called Cathedral Valley. Although I didn’t know of this much larger monolith when coining the same name for the largest rock of Darkside, the resemblance seems rather striking to me.

The right hand picture is a close up of a painting by Roselyne Oneill called “Temple of the Moon”, which to me also bears an interesting resemblance to Darkside’s same named temple.

Then here’s a composite picture of Beach Mtn.’s Temple of the Moon.

From below, the hole called Hobbit Hideout in Hobbit Rock. As Hucka D. stated, the naming of this rock is not quite in line with the strong Oz theme of the others, but I think it will do. I’ll attempt to get a better picture of this “hideout” soon.

The Temple of the Moon rather towering about the trees, as seen from beside Hobbit Rock to the south.

img_0192smallest

Spring Rock just west of Hobbit Rock, so named because a spring can be usually be heard gurgling at its base, shortly forming the only pool of water known by me to exist in the Darkside bowl.

img_0199smallest

Temple of the Moon approaching from the south. Hard to get a sense from this photograph how high it actually is.

img_0204smallest

Looking up through the central crack of the temple. You can see the much lighter top of the temple through the opening.

img_0210smallest

This was taken from the inner chamber (crack) of the temple, reached from the entrance known as the Doorway to the east.

img_0221smallest

Another view of the temple again from the north, or the northern rim of the Darkside bowl.

More Darkside pictures soon!

Observation Rock. Actually a number of rocks piled on top of each other, but also the top, flat rock could be called such by itself, I suppose. Anyway, from the top you can view the entire Darkside bowl, although the tree cover is too dense even in the winter to make most of the prominent bowl rocks out.

img_0111smallest

Tombstone Rock atop The Cathedral. No inscription, though (thankfullly!).

img_0121smallest

Inside The Cathedral.

Another, better photo of Pentagon Rock, as promised in the first post of this blog re Darkside. Again, it looks the same from both sides — soon I’ll go back and take some measurements of this and other, select rocks in the bowl. I’d like to know, for example, exactly how high the Temple of the Moon is.

img_0141smallest

Observation Rock (left) with close, lower companion The Point. Looks like an equilateral triangle from this angle, doesn’t it?

img_0147smallest

Yet another suspiciously evenly shaped rock. I call this one Diamond Rock. It’s right behind (north of) Pentagon Rock.

More Sansara Wanderings

Filed under: Graduation Island(s),Kahruvel Forest,Nova Albion,Okinu Sim,Snow Region — baker Blinker @ 4:13 pm

Baker Bloch walks from the Temple of TILE in Hibdon to the large, forested island next to Graduation Island explored last fall. Only forest on this particular island, though. And rock. Lots of trees and grass and ferns and rock.

snapshot975_008smaller

A little while back, Baker requested help from a detective agency based in Grignano concerning the “mysteries of Sansara”. Perhaps they thought the request was a little too broad or maybe a little too daft. Whatever, he hasn’t heard back from ’em yet.

snapshot976_001smaller

Another forest, this time a non-Linden one in the Pomponio sim. This one covers about fifth of a sim, and is densly packed with pines. A strangely out of place wood prim sits in a small, square clearing in its center.

snapshot977_005smaller

snapshot977_022smaller

More evidence that TILE is everywhere. All Things, as Hucka D. put it.

snapshot977_024smaller

Albion Park, quite near the forest pictured above. Not extremely large but nice. On granite, and next to the Pomponio Volcano. In fact, I would assume, without checking, that both the forest with the wood prim at its center and Albion Park both share a border with this *smoking* Linden protected volcano parcel. According to the land description, they also apparently hold SL College classes here at times.

snapshot977_027smaller

Then Baker Bloch popped over to the famous Forest of Kahruvel preserved by the Phyneas Jack Memorial Trust, specifically to check out the living quarters of Enja Mysterio, a long term resident of SL and apparently one of the few permanent residents of the forest. Turns out that I tied with Ms. Mysterio’s blog for the 94th most popular blog in SL, har har. What this means I’m not sure, but here’s the list in case you wanna check.

But in checking today more about Enjah another ahah! moment occurred. She and the detective I called up have one and the same user! Hmmmmm… well, that’s an interesting twist! Have to think about that more.

snapshot977_029smaller

Baker Bloch also found another sim border fissure, perhaps as long or even longer than the one Wilsonia just found, but not as deep. Quite interesting; I wonder how many there are like this in SL? I know they have something to do with the much greater limits on terraforming that use to be in effect.

snapshot977_031smaller

Such as we have an example of here! I don’t have time to send Wilsonia looking for these towering pointy peaks, but I can deduce from this snapshot they’ve got to be at least close to 100 meters high apiece.

snapshot977_047smaller

Blochs’ also visits Wilsonia’s beloved Snow Region that night, taking this lovely twilight shot of ski slope with rocks, mountain, and moon.

snapshot978_008smaller

A pop over to the Okinu sim, then…

snapshot978_009smaller

… completed by a visit to Kissling. *More* weirdness here (as I found out a couple of days ago). A friend of *both* Ms Mysterio and my long time email friend Headburro Antfarm named Nish just posted about visiting this sim on her Big Orange One blog, as well as the Lusk sim. I’ll have more to say about that and Nish’s super-nifty Sansara explorings herself as soon as I have time. That’s all for now!

We Better Chat, 19 31/32

Filed under: Uncategorized — baker Blinker @ 7:56 am

“It’s never the end, Hucka D.”

Hucka D.:

Har. Yeah, but it’s closer and closer all the time.

bb:

Darkside and Temple of the Moon tomorrow. I’m excited.

Hucka D.:

Take the toy avatars of course. The new and the old. Tyle Sphere into temple. Link between RL and SL complete.

bb:

Kelly seems, er…

Hucka D.:

SL is not a self enclosed cube. Or sphere. A link between the 2 must be forged.

bb:

Alright. Yeah, timing is everything.

Hucka D.:

Correct. The present is the point of power. Remember that.

bb:

I’m very portable and flexible now. No water off my back.

Hucka D.:

But I believe you need to be behind Yapland and what it stands for. It’s been around for some time. But, yeah, keep your options open. Everyone in SL understands that. It’s a game but not a game. But it’s not RL either.

bb:

Maybe I need to make more collages with that walking stick. Glue stick?

Hucka D.:

That’s the art walk. Because you are portable and flexible, as you say, you can help by being an outsider of sorts. You aren’t chained to SL in the same way. That’s good… make a link. Make it today… tomorrow, today.

bb:

I’m looking for a way out?

Hucka D.:

You’re talking about your vision of Wilsonia walking into the Kerchal Forest and everything turning white and then Ozmo showing up. Ozmo melds, then, with Grassy Knoll to make a new avatar, sort of like what happened to your friend Headburro Antfarm in the Forest of Kahruvel. You are just at that point, even though you’ve been here [in SL] almost a year and a 1/2 now. Because you don’t focus on the avatar itself… you focus on what you can do with the avatar in the virtual world [exploring, collaging]. You must ask yourself: is this the future for Wilsonia? I don’t think so personally. Do you keep Grassy and Ozmo separate or do you attempt a meld?

bb:

Maybe Grassy has something to say about this. But it does remind me somewhat of your situation with Charles Nelson Blinkerton. You *are* him, still… correct?

Hucka D.:

I am Hucka Doobie now. I am my own self.

bb:

Let me review, briefly. We are at the Kerchal Forest now. Dream come true. Center revealed… where the blog all started, after all.

Hucka D.:

Yes. Full circle.

bb:

Something, then, has to happen in this forest…

Hucka D.:

…Wilsonia. The forest must fade and then vanish.

bb:

Ozmo walks in.

Hucka D.:

Yes.

bb:

We’ve already talked to Ozmo at least once in this blog.

Hucka D.:

Once, yeah.

bb:

But Baker Bloch and Baker Blinker together create the Mythos-SL link. Britonia. At the center of Wazob.

Hucka D.:

You have your place now where this can happen.

bb:

Will Ozmo, then, become the king of Mythos?

Hucka D.:

Pope was the last singular ruler of the Confederation [which is Mythos on the lower octave]. Then Wheeler came along, but he is also, um, Rutherford B. Hayes — Booger Haze, in another way — and then Sherwood Anderson and also George Norris. The Triumvirate. But it was B. Hayes, B. Haze, that drug the other two in. I think.

bb:

He drugged them? Never mind…

Hucka D.:

The mouse was drugged. Dart Boat. Into Mouse Island. B. Haze.

bb:

OK, so I know a lot of this has to do with Carrcass-1.

Hucka D.:

In the forest there’s also the sound of music once more. The hills are alive.

bb:

RS7. Can we talk?

Hucka D.:

A red craft will land in the forest. Ozmo will enter. Maybe.

bb:

Or come out.

Hucka D.:

Kerch has mainland madness.

bb:

Yeah, I think Alice already said that.

Hucka D.:

Alice is the control. But she is not the center. Kind of like chess.

bb:

[Relationsihp of] king and queen, you mean.

Hucka D.:

In a manner.

bb:

Without Baker Blinker being absorbed into Shakenstein and true Baker’s Island revealed in the middle of that woods, Baker Bloch would not have been born on Isle of Baker — may be the same island, Hucka D.

Hucka D.:

And directly related to the Isle of Baker – Not where I translated myself from SL to RL through keyword “Hidalgo”. Where did it take me? Hilo Peak Mtn. Holly bush. Drink. Long Hope Indians. Fast moving glacier.

bb:

Did Baker Bloch manifest through the resonating portal on Isle of Baker?

Hucka D.:

Yes. He came out; I went in. Rodeo.

bb:

I’ve never fully explained on this blog the Rodeo island and the relationship with Rodeo, New Mexico, in Hidalgo County.

Hucka D.:

I am Charles Nelson Blinkerton. But I am not.

bb:

Maybe we need to go “back” to Lordsburg, Hucka D.

Hucka D.:

LORD.

bb:

I also forgot about the Lordsburg Door.

Hucka D.:

Get ready for tomorrow (smiles).

bb:

Thank you!

*****

bb:

In that Mouse Island link above, I’m wondering if Peanut now could also stand for Gaeta, the peanut shaped continent which I’ve given up on now, and the melding of the two galleries as well, Edwardston Station Gallery and Gallery at the Temple of TILE?

Hucka D.:

Peanut killed Square in Ozmo. Peanut wishes there to be two Squares together. N and J. That would be in Burning Life, but I doubt you are ready, at least this year.

bb:

Synchpatch must be developed. That Escher building — I must visit.

Hucka D.:

Might be significant that Mouse Island is next to Kelley’s Island. You wrote about the latter in your High Octave Story, I believe.

bb:

It’s the island you could see from the enlarged monument [Perry Memorial] at Put-in-Bay. The fox was jumping after grapes there, perhaps sour.

Hucka D.:

That was Wilsonia. Wilson… Wilsonia. But similar, you see. You have Wilson and Fox in Oklahoma along with Graham and then the symbols for The Residents (Clem and Fox). You have Wheeler, you have *Heal*dton. You have Keller. And you have Helen Keller ears in SL right now.

bb;

I’m going to read that story tomorrow.

Hucka D.:

Do that. Goodnight!
