Hucka D.:
Where’s Baker Bloch?
Baker Blinker:
He’s out exploring Hucka.
Hucka D.:
Where?
Baker Blinker:
I believe he said something about the “south” tonight. He likes exploring after dark now. So I suppose it’s just you and me again. We’re so glad to have you here! But I must admit to having a thousand questions for you.
Hucka D.:
I miss Baker Bloch when he’s not around.
Baker Blinker:
Well I’m here to take care of you. I’m your friend, right?
Hucka D.:
Yes. Friends.
Baker Blinker:
So are you…?
Hucka D.:
Yes. And no.
Baker Blinker:
Do you still desire to do art?
Hucka D.:
I will help Baker Bloch with the skybox. Chromagraphs.
Baker Blinker:
Can I help as well?
Hucka D.:
Yes.
Baker Blinker:
I’m glad you live here now. It will give me company while Blochs is out and about, which he usually is. Do you like the table and light he set up?
Hucka D.:
Very nice. When do I get my eyes? The current ones are goofy. Goofy.
Baker Blinker:
Perhaps we need to go shopping.
Hucka D.:
I’m happy with the bee, but I need some eyes. Cool ones, you know.
Baker Blinker:
Can I talk about CNB with you, Hucka D.? *Those* memories.
Hucka D.:
It might be best before they fade. They are fading. (pause)
Baker Blinker:
I’m going to ask Blochs if I can hang more Blinkerton on the walls. And more Edna!
Hucka D.:
Have you met Edna Blinker?
Baker Blinker:
Of course! I wished she’d come inworld more!
Hucka D.:
How does Edna Blinker feel about Baker Blochs?
Baker Blinker:
Well, Hucka, Blochs and I are one, as you know. We’re baker b. We’ve talked about this, Blochs and I. Everything is cool now. It was just that setting… over in the Uli sim in the wicca-styled cottage.
Hucka D.:
Bewitchment.
Baker Blinker:
Yeah, perhaps. So, to be perhaps indelicate, it ended on Burro Mtn.
Hucka D.:
Burro Peak, yeah.
Baker Blinker:
And then you just found yourself here in the bee body.
Hucka D.:
More or less. I asked for the body, remember?
Baker Blinker:
No.
Hucka D.:
Oh yeah, that was baker b. I think.
Baker Blinker:
Where did you first find yourself in that body?
Hucka D.:
Out there. (Hucka D. points outside the window to the open sim.)
Baker Blinker:
Any particular spot?
Hucka D.:
Directly north.
Baker Blinker:
I can’t really talk about what I found there, but it relates to those eyes.
Hucka D.:
Yeah. Eyes.
Baker Blinker:
So did you put those things there? Really?
Hucka D.:
Yes.
Baker Blinker:
Not [delete name]?
Hucka D.:
No.
Baker Blinker:
Should they have been deleted?
Hucka D.:
Yes. (pause)
You have the eyes now.
Baker Blinker:
I suppose I do. And I know where to get more. Would you like to go exploring in that area? I think I should contribute something to the explorations of SL, since Blochs has AI so thoroughly covered. What say you?
Hucka D.:
Maybe we should just wait here for Mr. Bloch to return.
Baker Blinker:
Do you like your room downstairs?
Hucka D.:
It is private and away from the main part of the house. Very much so. It’s perfect. I need wallpaper.
Baker Blinker:
We’ll go shopping for that soon. Along with the eyes.
Hucka D.:
Furniture as well.
Baker Blinker:
What about the van?
Hucka D.:
What about the van?
Baker Blinker:
You said you wanted it “fixed up.”
Hucka D.:
Well go riding in it. Plus that’s where we’ll keep the tapes and the screen. Decals on the side. It’s already written in the Big Book.
Baker Blinker:
Big Book?
Hucka D.:
Of the future. I have access in ways. Remember?
Baker Blinker:
What does the Big Book say about this house?
Hucka D.:
You will live here for a while. Azure House. I will stay with you, but I will always be here. You and Mr. Bloch will pop in and out. I remain. This is my home. This is my Second Life.
Baker Blinker:
Your First Life is gone.
Hucka D.:
Lost The Body, yeah. Worn out.
Baker Blinker:
Heart attach?
Hucka D.:
Yes. Given up. It was a good life. But you have regrets.
Baker Blinker:
Do you think you got out enough?
Hucka D.:
I was married to my art, not a spouse. My art was my spouse. But now I know I have a spouse. She will come soon. Art… spouse.
Baker Blinker:
Will she be an avatar as well?
Hucka D.:
Yes. She will give up her RL body soon also. I knew her. She lived in the motel. We were friends. But we were not married. Now I know we have always been married. But for now I live alone here. Then we will move somewhere else outside of SL. Another Second Life, but not this one. That’s in the Big Book.
Baker Blinker:
What about me? What about Blochs?
Hucka D.:
You are not really here. I am like Jeff Bridges in Tron. I am stuck here. But unlike Bridges I cannot go back. I can only go forward. Into the future.
Baker Blinker:
Waystation, then. Do you mind me asking questions?
Hucka D.:
It helps retain memories. I will speak to you at length.
Baker Blinker:
Didn’t you do a superrealism painting of a light switch? In the motel?
Hucka D.:
Correct.
Baker Blinker:
Does it have something to do with “out there”? (Baker Blinker points out the window, as Hucka D. did before)
Hucka D.:
Yes. But it’s mostly the potholder. The eyes. The potholder. Male/female. Father/mother. West/east. This house is centered. This house is north and south and east and west. It’s not out there now (Hucka D. points out again). It’s in here. It’s now and here. This house.
